Senior Adults

FISH Group – “Fun In Serving Him”

The Senior Adult Ministry was established at Calvary Baptist Church by our pastor Emeritus, The Reverend Thurmond Stone, who saw how important it is for our Seniors to have the “Golden Years” to be fun-filled and challenging. Calvary has continued this vision over the years. The F.I.S.H. GROUP as this group is called is an acrostic meaning very simply “Fun in Serving Him”. We invite you to join us as we meet every first Thursday of the month at 12 noon.

The meetings are filled with fun, inspiration, fellowship, food, entertainment, and friendship. Many of these folks have forged a long-lasting bonds of friendship through these times together. A typical meeting would include, opening remarks, enjoying the wonderful cooking of all of these ladies who have brought their best casseroles, and dessert, a twenty-five to thirty minute program, business, birthdays and anniversary recognition.

Travel Philosophy – The FISH Group is on the way to somewhere just about every month for either a day trip, 2-3 day trip, or possibly a 4-5 day trip. We do this to enrich the lives of our Seniors here at Calvary, believing that as a church we should honor our Seniors and try to make the travel as affordable as possible. We try to operate the travel so that no profit is generated which works well. It is expected that tour participants be members of the FISH Group but not necessarily Calvary Baptist Church.

Spiritual Goals – We also desire that every Senior Adult have a living vital relationship with Jesus Christ.
